Find below the various ministries and departments at Omega Community Church
This ministry involves overseeing and leading worship activities in church and other gatherings, in church and other meetings. The tasks include teaching worship practices, training and delegating tasks to other worship leaders as required, planning special music sessions, gathering musicians before the service to ensure their readiness, praying for all involved in the worship and music ministry, teaching and managing the church choir, as well as establishing and managing multiple choirs.
As part of the church's ministry or departments, there are several responsibilities related to providing assistance to those who respond to the message during services. These include supervising all counsellors and altar teams, overseeing pre-service prayer meetings, praying for new converts to repent and respond to the word of God, ensuring materials are available for those who respond to the altar call, training other altar counsellors, teaching in the foundation school, and gathering visitor forms from the church administrator every week to facilitate follow-up with visitors. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with the worship/membership committee to periodically review materials used for teaching in the foundation school.
Shall be responsible for all matters pertaining to the general welfare
of children.
Shall ensure the provision of the requisite teaching aids including
audio-visuals that
will facilitate easy and effective teaching.
Shall recruit competent teachers will nurture the children in the word
of God, with a
view to bring about the full development of the child-spiritually,
morally, socially and
physically.
Shall provide proper guidelines to teaching staff.
Shall be responsible for the grading and upgrading of materials for the
benefit of all
classes and levels of children.
Shall organize refresher courses for all teaching staff from time to
time.
Shall maintain a high standard of discipline amongst teaching staff and
children.
It shall guide the church in the choice of acquisition of lands for
educational, church
building and other developmental projects.
It shall be responsible for church building projects and sourcing for
legitimate funds
for such projects.
It shall be responsible for collection and preservation of documents and
reclaim
pertaining to the church properties and these records should be kept at
the church
office.
It shall insure church properties whenever necessary (insurance
companies to be
decided by the Pastoral Board).
It shall:
a. Maintain all church buildings (repairs and renovation)
b. Provide basic furniture and other office equipment for the church.
c. Be responsible for management and care of all properties belonging to
the
church.
d. Make all essential repairs.
Official inventory records should be kept and maintained
To hold regular intercessory meetings
To do spiritual warfare for the Church and Ministry
To draw a programme of prayer activities so that the Church would be
involved in all kinds of prayer according to Ephesians 6:18
To keep praying constantly for Pastors, their wives and children
To attend all intercessory meetings
To pray for growth and expansion in all areas
To collect specific prayer topics from Pastors of their appointments and
seek to know the prayer needs of members and pray for them
To provide ushers for services, and to oversee the performance of
General Ushers, Executive Ushers and Altar Teams
To provide security and safety in all meetings and pray for all the feel
loved and welcomed.
To ensure that all people coming to meetings are greeted politely, given
a warm welcome, and comfortably seated
To have oversight on building, light, general cleanliness surroundings
(Meeting centre)
To ensure hall is ready for meetings – with curtains well trend and
fixed banners and decorations are in place (if necessary)
To ensure clean drinking water for all during meeting
To arrive early for each service and pray in advance and be ready to
usher – be an example is dress, speech and attitude
To ensure the handling out of bulletins and other information needed to
each person
Shall be responsible to the Pastoral Board and the Body of Deacons.
Shall be responsible for the general well-being of all members of the
local assembly
Shall set out an effective and pragmatic mode of operation which shall
be made
known to all members to which prospective beneficiaries must adhere.
Shall be expected to plan and execute periodic recreational and
entertainment and
bread-breaking feast fellowship times for the local assembly.
Shall have an information pool to enhance the assistance provided to the
jobless in
their search for jobs.
In coalition with Home cell leaders or otherwise exercise surveillance
over the wellbeing of all brethren.
Shall establish an efficient and workable “Help Fund” services
Shall furnish Pastoral Board with periodic reports.
Shall help in every way deem fit as far as the following are concerned;
a) Births
b) School
c) Engagements and weddings
d) Delegational Visits
e) Deaths and Burials
f) Orphans and windows
To keep under review, the whole outreach effort of the church and the
way it is
being carried out. (Both in-reach and outreach).
To study and advice the church on methods of outreach for use by the
congregation,
groups and individuals, so that the church will not be “out of
commission” in
consultation with the Resident Pastor.
To plan, develop, draw and control outreach programs of the
congregation.
To bring to the notice of the church new and neglected spheres for
outreach and to
suggest suitable lines of action.
To keep under review, the congregation’s provision for training lay
people for
Christian witness and service (within and without) in the congregation.
To introduce ways and means of carrying out lay training for outreach
groups.
To arrange for suitable outreach materials and resources.
To receive copies of groups reports on outreach and to take appropriate
action
whenever necessary.
The department shall make suggestions to groups and other departments
where to
evangelize, methods, means etc. in consultation with the Resident
Pastor.
Draw programs for crusades, and medical outreach in consultation with
the
Resident Pastor.
To evaluate quarterly performances of the outreach team.
To act as the best example of Christian Women in the local church
To draw appropriate programmes to meet the Spiritual, Moral, Social and
other needs and numerical growth in line with the visions and goals of
OCC
To act and plan in unity and team spirit with all other ministries and
Wings of the local assembly
It shall be the duty of the Women Ministry to ensure at least a 100%
numerical growth yearly in the membership of the Woman Ministry.
Shall be the prophetic dance team in the house of God
Shall work in close collaboration with the Church choir
Shall be responsible for creation and designing of flags and banners
both for dancing and decorating the house of God
Shall ensure the safe keeping and replacement of flags and banners
Shall ensure that actions and performance shall be for the following
a. Declaration of the current work of God/prophecies
b. Bringing healing and restoration to people
c. Arousing interest and enlisting those who are called to belong to
this Ministry.
To act as the best example of Christian Youth in the local assembly
To target the schools and colleges as its outreach field i.e. using
avenues such as music, drama, camp meeting etc.
To draw and execute appropriate programmes to meet the Spiritual, moral,
Social and other needs and numerical growth of the Youth in line with
the visions and goals of OCC
To act and plan in unity and team spirit with all other Ministries and
Wings of the Local assembly
It shall be the duty of the Youth Ministry to ensure at least a 100%
numerical growth yearly in the membership of the Youth Ministry
To ensure that all instruments, chairs, etc. get to the meeting place on
time for Church service to begin.
To see to it that chairs, instruments, etc are correctly and properly
arranged for Church Service.
To scout and mobilise other people who are not members of work force to
help in the arrangements of the meeting place.
To ensure that all chairs, instruments, etc. gets back to the place of
storage after Church Service
To ensure the proper handling of all chairs, instruments, etc. to and
from church service
To plan and consider all internal and external church relations
involving the
use of all available techniques, publications, public relations,
advertising
packages to promote the activities of the church.
To promote all church programs and contact the press when items of
general
interest is involved.
To develop social programs other than preaching to promote healthy
relationships between the church and the community thereby enhancing the
image of the church in the community.
To take the initiative to publish magazines, journals, news bulletins
etc. to
broadcast the activities if the church.
To set up an information bureau to receive and confirm all announcements
Shall be responsible for recording, editing and distribution of audio,
CD and
video messages
Shall be responsible for the projection of scriptures and other relevant
content
during church services and meetings.
Shall ensure the functioning of the Church’s website and its content
with
constant updates
It shall be responsible for all matters concerning marriage (marital
affairs).
It shall initiate formal- customary rites, engagements, marriage in the
church
(blessing or ordinance) and help in all arrangements.
It shall represent the church in the performance of customary rites and
blessings of
marriage.
It shall advice members on contracting customary rites and blessings of
marriage.
It shall direct members intending to marry what to do.
It shall be responsible for pre, post and all stages in the marriage.
It shall work within the framework of;
a. The scriptures stand on marriage
b. The church’s stand on marriage
c. All issues concerning marriage.
8. It shall organize marriage seminars, workshop, retreat etc. for the
church.
9. It shall keep records of;
a. Marriage cases – resolved and unresolved
b. Marriages - native or ordinance.
It shall promote all affairs of the Couples Fellowship of the church
The church’s marriage procedure
a. Prospective couples make their intention to the Resident Pastor
b. The Resident Pastor introduces them to the marriage counseling
committee.
c. Prospective couple will fill all necessary forms. (Form A-E) before
and during
counseling.
d. The Marriage and Family Life Department will then take them through
marriage counseling (length to be decided by the committee taking into
consideration the condition of couples).
e. First, second and third announcements for the intended marriage to
the
congregation will be done by the Resident Pastor/Pastor in-charge of
Marriage
and Family Life Department.
f. The committee will arrange to present them to the Pastoral Board and
inform
Pastoral Board of the arrangement put in place for the customary rites
and
after.
g. Represent the church in the performance of customary rites.
h. Maintain relationship between counselors, pastoral Board and couples.
To help members to regulate state law;
